FEBRUARY
Sunday 8 Feb       Leader: Joan Holley              07762 416037      6.5 miles
Morning Walk: Meet for a 10 am start at The Worlds End Pub, 5 Northampton Road, Ecton, Northampton, postcode NN6 0QN. The walk will take us down the high street across a few fields ascending into Earls Barton village. Then we turn onto paved road for approx. 1 mile into Sywell Country park where there are toilets and we can have a ten minute break. We will walk around the reservoir, then ascend the road outside across a couple of fields onto the very busy road A45; taking care as we return back into Ecton Village. The pub car park may be used if you are staying for food or drink after the walk, if not please park considerately in the village. A table is booked for 1 pm. Pre-ordering is required. Morning Walk: Meet for a 10 am start at Brodie Lodge Playing Field, 50 Spring Lane, Flore, Northampton, postcode NN7 4LS, GR SP 64435996, what3words: spike.moment.imparting. Love is in the air for this easy relatively flat circular walk containing 1 stile. We have a short incline of 18 “not steep” steps, road walking, towpath and footpaths through fields. We leave the playing field walking through Flore in a northerly directly towards Brockhall. Then turn to join the Grand Union canal until we reach Weedon. We will walk through Weedon Bec and Lower Weedon before crossing the A5; then finally we approach Flore from the fields to the south west. Please make your own arrangements for lunch.

Morning Walk: Meet for a 10 am start at The Red Lion, Main Street, East Haddon, Northampton, postcode NN6 8BU, GR SP 66841 68170, what3words: seabirds.vision.early. This varied circular walk takes you across field paths to Ravensthorpe Reservoir, it then winds its way around the perimeter of the reservoir. Half of the reservoir is through woods with glimpses of the water; the other half clings to the water’s edge crossing a dam giving open views. The walk contains several stiles and is set in the middle of this lovely countryside, with superb views over hills, woodland and meadows. There is a small amount of road walking on quiet roads. If you are not patronising the pub please park considerately in the village. Refreshments available following the walk at The Red Lion. Morning Walk: Meet for a 10 am start at Delapre Abbey Car Park, London Road, Northampton, postcode NN4 8AW, GR SP 758594, OS Explorer map 223. This walk has plenty of variety including woods and water features. From the Abbey we will pass through Charter Woods and then through the attractive grounds of Northampton University. The next stretch is along the Nene Way as far as the beginning of the Washlands. Our return is via Delapre lake. Please make your own arrangements for lunch

MARCH

Morning Walk: Meet for a 10 am start outside All Saints Church, Upper High Street, Harpole, Northampton, postcode NN7 4DR, GR SP 691609, OS Explorer map 223. This walk comprises 2 hills and 1 inclined section with views out across the surrounding countryside; a number of field gates (may be muddy), 1 stile, 2 sets of shallow steps, 1 descending, 1 ascending. The route consists of grassy footpaths and bridleways including several parts on the Northamptonshire Round and Midshires Way, and there are several sections on stony tracks. At one point the walk enters Nobottle, there is one very short section along a grass verge before reaching the next footpath. Due to the terrain, this walk will be undertaken at a steady pace, therefore we would estimate returning to the start by about 12.45pm.  Please park considerately in the village. A table is booked for 1pm at the Live & Let Live, Larkhall Lane, Harpole, postcode NN7 4DP. Pre-ordering is required.  Please book with Sue by 27/02/2026.

This walk will take in some nice views taking us to Holdenby North Lodge where we will join the Macmillan Way and head south to Holdenby then back to East Haddon. If you are not patronising the pub please park considerately in the village. Refreshments available following the walk at The Red Lion.

Morning Walk: Meet for a 10 am start at All Saints Church, Church Street, Mears Ashby, Northampton, postcode NN6 0EF. From the starting point of the church we head out of the village across fields towards Sywell Country Park . There we follow the path around the reservoir stopping at the café for refreshments (weather permitting). Thereafter we head back for our return using the same route. The walk contains 4 stiles and has one road crossing. Please park considerately in the village and make your own arrangements for lunch.

Morning Walk: Meet for a 10 am start at Barnwell Village Hall Car Park, postcode PE8 5QD (nearest property Montagu Arms, Barnwell, Peterborough PE8 5QD) GR SP 051848, OS Explorer map 227, what3words: mobile.flame.shoelaces. Walking from the car park into the village of Barnwell, passing Barnwell Castle and then St Andrews Church before taking footpaths across the fields to Wigsthorpe. We will walk through Wigsthorpe to a viewpoint looking down towards Barnwell. After a refreshment stop, we will then make our away across fields returning to Barnwell village. The walk contains no stiles. Graham will request attendees for lunch nearer the date.

Sunday 5 April        EASTER SUNDAY – NO WALK

Morning Walk: Meet for a 10 am start at The Windhover, Brampton Lane, Chapel Brampton, Northampton, postcode NN6 8AA, GR SP 740652, what3words: nights.sunset.dark. This is a pleasant circular walk containing no stiles. Using the Brampton Valley Way and visiting the Brampton Valley Railway Station. Please only use the pub car park if staying for refreshments after the walk. Otherwise use the Brampton Valley car park on the opposite side of the road.

Morning Walk: Meet for a 10 am start at The Overstone Arms Pub, Stringer’s Hill, Pytchley, Kettering, Northampton, postcode NN14 1EU. We will meet in the larger car park at the rear of the pub. The walk takes us across fields to Isham, on to Little Harrowden, up to Orlingbury and then returning to Pytchley. The walk contains 3 stiles. There is parking on the road for those not having lunch, however please park considerately. A table is booked for 1pm. Pre-ordering is not necessary. Please book with Sue by 10/04/2026.

Morning Walk: Meet for a 10 am start at The Five Bells, 14 Church Lane, Bugbrooke, Northampton, postcode NN7 3PB, what3words: embers.greed.suffice. Meet outside the pub for an easy scenic walk along the canal passing through Nether Heyford with a drinks stop on the famous five acre village green. The pub is due to open towards the end of 2025 therefore we have an opportunity to have refreshments after the walk. There is a large car park on the opposite side of the road near to the church.
